The Supa Squirrel Proof Feeder is designed to keep both squirrels and larger bully birds at bay, so that small garden birds can eat in peace. Suitable for all general seed mixes and sunflower hearts. The feeder works by the combination of the anti-squirrel baffle and the weight of squirrels or larger birds on the spring-loaded perches closing the seed ports. The seed perches are designed so that birds can feed from the seed port in the most comfortable way while still being able to see any approaching predators. Made from premium quality materials to ensure a long-lasting life. It is important to feed wild birds all year round particularly in winter months and during the nesting & breeding season. Approximate Dimensions: 45cm (H) x 18cm (W) x 18cm (D) Holds approximately: 1.6kg of wild bird seed / 1.4kg of Sunflower Hearts. Instructions:The feeder is easy to open by pressing inwards the two spring loaded lugs on the roof and lifting off the lid to allow the seed reservoir to be filled. Once the feeder is full, hang it in your garden. This feeder is not suitable for the feeding of peanuts. Squirrels are persistent creatures and will endeavour to get from the feeder. Additional measures to deter squirrels are: Ensure that the Squirrel cannot access the feeder by jumping on to it from nearby trees or climbing up a feeding station etc. That as an extra deterrent to the Squirrels getting onto a feeder a tree hook is used as this will increase the distance between the feeder and the hanging point.Provide a Squirrel Feeder for the Squirrels as this may encourage them to feed from their own specific feeder and leave the wild bird feeder alone.Add a dash of strong chilli powder to the seed mix. Squirrels do not appreciate the taste of the chilli powder, but birds are not bothered by it. It is always worthwhile cleaning your feeder on a regular basis with warm water & a mild detergent or a disinfectant solution to avoid a build-up of bacteria. Rinse the feeder thoroughly with fresh water after cleaning and allow the feeder to air dry. Remove any uneaten food as spoiled or mouldy food is not good for your Garden Birds. Provide fresh water but regularly change it ideally on a daily basis to ensure it does not become stagnant. It is also worthwhile on a regular basis moving your feeders to different locations around your garden. Ensure you have enough bird feeders in your garden to avoid wild birds congregating around the same feeder.
